Next to childbirth, tooth pain is possibly the most painful thing you will ever encounter.  For many people who suffer from an attack it seems like it comes from nowhere and without warning.  When it hits however, it seems like it will never want to end.  For those that suffer from tooth pain, here are some home remedies that you may want to consider.  For additional tips consider reading the implant dentistry journal.

Saltwater

What you will want to do is take one half of a teaspoon of salt and dissolve it into an eight ounce glass of warm water.  Stir the salt to ensure that it is absorbed by the water completely.  Then, take the water and swish it around in your mouth.  This will help numb the nerves in your gums.

Cold compress

If you chipped or knocked out a tooth you may experience swelling.  If this occurs or you just experience swelling, then you may want to put a cold compress on your cheek.  This compress will help to reduce swelling and pain.  If it is too cold, then remove it as comfort dictates.

Clove oil

Cloves are a natural spice that when broken up will release a natural oil.  This oil has many healing properties to it.  One of the most beneficial is in relieving pain.  What you want to do is put a drop or two of the oil on your gums and rub it in all over.  The oil will seep into the gums lessening and then removing the pain.

Garlic

Similar to clove oil, garlic releases an oil called allicin. This oil when absorbed by the skin and teeth helps to numb pain.  Taking your finger or a Q-tip rub it into the oil and then apply it to the gums.  Moments will pass and then the pain will lessen.
