Fifth Angel

Site Updates

Oct. 2, 2009

Fifth Angel is now online at Facebook, Twitter and YouTube! Connect and interact with the band here:

April 7, 2009

Added a Tour Dates section to the site today, to prepare for Fifth Angel's concert schedule as it develops. Fans, when you attend any Fifth Angel performance, please send us photos from the concert and please keep track of the set lists and send them to us for archiving!

March 25, 2009

Today the Band section was updated to reflect some details provided by Ed Archer and to note Fifth Angel's re-activation. In addition, a link was provided for press/media inquiries.

April 20, 2008

Added a new promo photo (circa 1989) to the Media section. This shot, an official Epic Records photo, was sent in by George "Warlordy" Ketigenis. Thanks George!

Jan. 13, 2008

Added another candid photo to the Media section. This particular shot is of Ted Pilot and Kendall Bechtel at an autograph session in Los Angeles (circa 1989). Thanks again to Kendall for donating the photo.

Jan. 10, 2008

Added a few candid photos of Fifth Angel visiting the World Trade Center in New York City in 1989 to the Media section. These photos were taken by lead guitarist Kendall Bechtel on the band's trip to NYC to record Time Will Tell. A big thanks to Kendall for donating the photo scans!

I also updated the News section with details on what Kendall Bechtel and James Byrd have been up to.

Dec. 22, 2007

Added an interview with Ken Mary on Fifth Angel from a 1987 issue of Metal Forces to the Media section today. Merry Christmas!

Dec. 18, 2007

Added some digital images of the self-titled and Time Will Tell promotional cassettes to the Albums section today.

Just as a reminder, since Fifth Angel is inactive and has been inactive since 1989, this site serves just as an information hub about the band. The site is endorsed by the band members, however and if/when there is ever a reunion or new news, I'll share it here.

May 9, 2007

Added a new scan to the Albums section today. "Broken Dreams" apparently appeared on a sampler disc sent by Epic Records to radio stations in 1990. In addition, Ted Pilot let me know that the song was slated to be the band's second single off of Time Will Tell and a video had been in the works. It was never filmed, however. This information has been added to the album's write-up on this site.

I was fortunate enough to obtain extremely rare radio promotional cassettes for both Fifth Angel albums. These are legitimate promos (without artwork, just sleeves with information about the releases on them) and I'll be posting digital images of them in the Albums section soon.

April 14, 2007

New article with Fifth Angel vocalist Ted Pilot posted on the Index page! I also tweaked the Band section so it's all one page - did so on the recommendation of original Fifth Angel guitarist James Byrd, as a matter of fact! :) Thanks Byrd!

February 1, 2007

Fifth Angel reunion a "no go." More in the News section.

January 19, 2007

Updated the News section with some very interesting rumors regarding a Fifth Angel reunion!

September 2, 2006

A new article on Fifth Angel has just been published! Bassist John Macko and Guitarist Kendall Bechtel discuss the band, Time Will Tell and what they've been up lately!

August 18, 2006

Well, a month flew by before I knew it! Sorry about the lack of updates, but since Fifth Angel is inactive, this site won't be updated much more than once per month, or when information is available. That said, however, we do have a bunch of new updates. First, thanks to John M. (not the bassist), a host of new articles and fan club newsletter items have been added to the Media section! Thanks John!

Coming up (possibly next week!) soon, a full feature-length NEW article on Fifth Angel, based on interviews done with John Macko and Kendall Bechtel last month. In addition to being this site's owner and a fan of Fifth Angel, my "day job" is as a journalist, so I took the liberty of contacting some of the band members and catching up. The article will likely appear on some online news sites and perhaps a few print rags. Eventually, it will also be reprinted here.

Once the first online news site publishes the article, I'll post the link here for folks to check out. The article is a great read, with both John and Kendall talking about the breakup of Fifth Angel, the Time Will Tell recording sessions and much more! Stay tuned!

July 16, 2006

Today I added a very rare promotional audio interview with Ted Pilot and John Macko to the Media section of the site. The interview comes from the promotional LP Interchords Words and Music. Details of this out-of-print release are also now up in the Albums section. Thanks goes to Jeff Brown for transferring the LP to CD for me in order to provide the interview.

The Discussion Forum has not attracted much attention, although I have to admit, I never thought it would. :o) Unfortunately, someone beat me to the MySpace page on Fifth Angel, so a lot of potential community members are there. I may start my own page, but that'll have to come later. In addition, we should have some new article scans coming in during the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

July 9, 2006

Lyrics to Fifth Angel's Time Will Tell release are now online.

July 7, 2006

The Discussion Forum is now open! Big thanks to my good buddy "Evil Cheese" for setting it up. In addition, I plan on adding the lyrics from Fifth Angel's Time Will Tell release later this weekend.

I'm also searching for any and all magazine or newspaper articles regarding Fifth Angel. If you have something that the Media section doesn't have and are willing to scan it for inclusion on the site, please send it in!. In addition, if anyone has a clean copy of the "Time Will Tell" video that they could share with me for hosting on this site, I'd really appreciate it. My copy has been lost, and the one on "YouTube" is of pretty bad quality.

July 5, 2006

This evening I added the lyrics to Fifth Angel's self-titled debut release. Lyrics to the follow-up album, Time Will Tell will follow later this week. In addition, I'm also finishing up work on a discussion forum for this site. Check back this weekend for the launch.

June 28, 2006

A couple of updates to the site today. First, former Fifth Angel bassist John Macko wrote in with some clarification on why Fifth Angel went with Terry Brown instead of Terry Date, to record Time Will Tell. See the BAND section for his comments.

In addition, banner link images were added for both of James Byrd's web sites - jamesbyrd.com and byrdguitars.com. See the LINKS section for those.

Finally, I'll be adding lyrics for all Fifth Angel songs to the ALBUMS section over the weekend and I think we'll also eventually be putting a discussion forum online, along with a jukebox of streaming Fifth Angel and Fifth Angel-related songs (as permitted).

June 27, 2006

Thanks to Jeffrey McCormack of Heir Apparent, we now have some updated info on former Fifth Angel Lead Guitarist Kendall Bechtel! Visit the BAND and LINKS sections for the info! Thanks Jeffrey!

I also have plans to request interviews with the band members I know how to contact (my "day job" is as a journalist) for features on this site. I will also be adding sound clips and an audio interview to the Media section in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

June 25, 2006

Added a promo photo (appearing on the back cover of the band's Time Will Tell release) from 1989 to the Media section. A press release was also sent out to various online rock and metal news sites announcing the launch of FifthAngel.net.

June 22, 2006

Finished the Admin and Media sections this evening. Still a bit more to do on the Albums section and may add my interview with James Byrd from 2003 into the Media section at a later date. The site is essentially ready to roll. A press release has been drafted to send out to Internet media on Monday. Anyone with further Fifth Angel information, article scans, etc., please contact me at fifthangel156@yahoo.com.

June 16, 2006

Basic format of the site complete. The index page and Band section were finished, along with the Links area.

June 11, 2006

FifthAngel.net domain secured. Graphics for the site are just about finished, using a combination of the album covers.
